Conrad Bercovici Abbottby Robert Sievert |
The Aggressor |
A memorial exhibit for Conrad Bercovici Abbott (1945-2001)
was held at the Westbeth Gallery. Works from out his lifetime
were on view His paintings were evidence of a deep lifelong
commitment to painting as a form of human expression.
Mostly figures, his work was awkwardly drawn, things didn't quite fit together, but there was something else. Throughout this work there is a powerful brooding, a true expressionist voice. His figures and faces talk to us with primitive and primal voices.
